What goes away
Watering, misting, feeding, repotting and trimming. Preserved moss does not drink and does not grow, so there is nothing to maintain in that sense. There is no soil, so no insects and no smell of a damp pot, and no pollen to bother anyone.
What stays
Dust. It comes off now and then with a soft brush or a gentle stream of cool air. Not with a vacuum, not with a cloth and not with water.
Two things that spoil a wall
Direct sun fades the colour faster than anything else. The draught from an air conditioner dries the moss out and it turns brittle. Both are solved by choosing the spot, before installation, which is why we ask exactly where the wall goes and where the air comes from.
How long it lasts
Seven to ten years in suitable conditions. We give two years of warranty on the quality of the moss itself, and for the first two years after installation we come by ourselves to see how the wall is holding.
We have installations that after more than two years look as if they went up yesterday, and that is the rule rather than the exception in a room that is out of the sun and away from the air conditioning.
